Domaine Chanson Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chenevottes 2015 75cl
Domaine Chanson Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chenevottes 2015 delivers the epitome of rich yet elegant white Burgundy. Aromas of peach and lemon peel are joined by delicate floral notes and some vanilla. The wine is generous and mouth-coating, with the richness balanced by a mineral core and cut with well-integrated acidity.
Les Chenevottes 1er Cru sits next right next to Le Montrachet Grand Cru. It has a more easterly exposure than the famed Montrachet, which means it is exposed more to cool breezes, meaning a cooler microclimate and higher acidity as a general rule. In heatwave years like 2015, this retention of acidity is welcome, as it means that the wines taste fresher than wines grown in warmer plots.
Revered winemaker Jean-Pierre Confuron heads up the winery at Domaine Chanson, whose 45 hectares of vineyards are farmed with organic principles. Confuron is a master of interpreting terroirs, and Domaine Chanson has an impressive range of Premier and Grand Cru holdings, both factors make for exciting drinking for any Burgundy enthusiast.
