Dom Pérignon Vintage 2005 Champagne Magnum 150cl
Dom Pérignon is only made in years where the vintage has been exceptional. Each vintage is an expression of the year and the character of Dom Pérignon.
The Champagne has the signature 'smoky' Dom Pérignon character, which comes as a result of the reductive winemaking where they go to extreme lengths to keep each step of the process oxygen-free. After spending 8 years on lees, the champagne has developed a broad texture with hints of youthful fruit.
Please be aware there is minor wear and tear to the bottle which is a result of cellar aging.

Jancis Robinson - 18.5/20
“Magnum. Very tricky year. Super-concentration. Then rain and rot. They had to go fast and sort scrupulously. Very small volume of Dom Pérignon was made: only a quarter of the volume of 2004. The smallest ever apart from 2002 rosé, made because of market demand. It was very unusual to declare a prestige cuvée 2005 so Richard Geoffroy is protective about this. Strong citrus character – mandarin peel perhaps – and a little chewy on the finish. Drink 2016-2026”

Grape: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir
The 2005 vintage year was unpredictable and full of contrasts. The weather was warm with little rain. August had a heatwave but September was rainy with cool temperatures. By the end of the growing season, the grapes harvested were limited in quantity but exceptional in quality.
Aromas of pear and apple are initially present, with a much richer palate that develops with each sip. On the palate, notes of burnt apple, ripe green fruits, and caramel flavours are present. The champagne is light with an impressively balanced acidity. The finish is elegantly long with faint floral notes.
